Eduardo Augusto Mattar

Eduardo specializes in restructuring and insolvency, litigation, and arbitration. Before founding MATTAR, Eduardo was a partner for more than 10 years at one of Brazil’s most traditional and prestigious law firms, where he developed its renowned insolvency and litigation/arbitration practice.

Over the past 20 years, Eduardo has advised clients in the largest and most complex local and cross-border insolvency matters, with a special focus on distressed assets, representing strategic players in the most relevant judicial reorganizations in Brazil since the first cases under the current reorganization and bankruptcy law.

He also represents major players in strategic and high-profile judicial disputes and arbitration proceedings, both domestic and international, institutional and ad hoc, focusing on corporate and M&A disputes, joint ventures, commercial contracts, oil and gas, and financial and capital markets.

Eduardo is recognized by leading directories such as The Legal 500, WWL, and Chambers and Partners, and is a frequent speaker at legal conferences and courses, having authored several articles and chapters in specialized publications. He holds Law degree and a postgraduate degree in Securities Law from the University of Sao Paulo (USP).
